If you’ve been reading my blog or following me on Twitter for a little while, you’ve definitely seen me rave about the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5.
I’ve been using this product for nearly three years now, and I’ve also done multiple reviews and comparisons to other similar products on the market.
But I know that not everyone loves this product as much as I do, and that’s okay! This is why I wanted to share with you 10 alternative products to the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5.
So, if you’ve been looking for something that will better suit your needs, be sure to check out these products!
But before we get into it, let me give you a fair warning first.
While the Cicaplast Baume B5 is an amazing product for all skin types, including acne-prone skin, some products on this list are not going to be as good for this particular issue.
So, make sure you read my remarks on each of these products to make sure you are picking the right one for your skin type!
Okay, now that we got that out of the way, let’s get into it!
CeraVe – PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion
Best for combo, dry, acne-prone skin.
The CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is an excellent option for those whose skin is dry and acne-prone.
The cream contains hydrating hyaluronic acid alongside niacinamide and ceramides, two very efficient barrier-restoring ingredients.
The PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion has a rich consistency, and it feels silky smooth on the skin. It’s also oil-free and super-hydrating, meaning it’s one of the best products to soothe irritation and repair a damaged skin barrier.
However, it also contains Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, which can be a clogging ingredient for those with oily skin, which is why it’s not one of my top picks for this skin type.

Vanicream – Daily Facial Moisturizer
Best for dry and dehydrated skin.
Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer is another excellent option for those with super dry and dehydrated skin.
It can be used alongside treatments that leave the skin dry, such as tretinoin and Accutane, as it contains great humectants, emollients, and occlusives such as glycerin, hyaluronic acid, squalane, barrier-repairing ceramides, etc.
It might not be the best option for acne-prone skin due to some heavy occlusives, but it will get the job done if you are currently taking skin-drying medications.

The Plant Base – AC Clear Magic Cica Cream
Best for dry, sensitive, and mature skin.
AC Clear Magic Cica Cream is an exceptionally great product for those whose skin is dry, sensitive, and irritated.
The cream contains a hefty amount of Centella Asiatica, also known as cica, which is an incredibly soothing and healing ingredient.
Additionally, it also contains brightening niacinamide, hydrating hyaluronic acid, calming licorice root extract, and other great ingredients for sensitive skin.
Furthermore, the treatment cream also contains barrier-repairing squalane, and antibacterial tea-tree oil, making it a good option for those whose skin is on the dry side but are still experiencing an occasional pimple here and there.
However, due to some potentially clogging ingredients, I wouldn’t recommend it to those with oily skin.

COSNORI – Panthenol Barrier Cream
Best for all skin types, including oily and acne-prone skin.
The Panthenol Barrier Cream is a gel-cream moisturizer that contains a high concentration of panthenol, a pro-vitamin B5 derivative.
Panthenol is an ingredient that can be found in a variety of products, from shampoo to skincare, as it’s an efficient humectant and an incredibly soothing component that helps with wound healing and repairing a damaged skin barrier.
Panthenol is also one of the main ingredients in Cicaplast Baume B5, which makes Cosnori’s Panthenol Barrier Cream quite a similar product with a lighter consistency.
Excellent for those with oily and acne-prone skin, this gel-cream moisturizer will hydrate the skin and soothe irritations without clogging the pores.

TIA’M – Panthenol Moist Cream
Best for all skin types, including oily and acne-prone skin.
Another excellent moisturizer that contains panthenol and is suitable for oily and acne-prone skin is the Panthenol Moist Cream by TIA’M.
This moisturizer has a thicker yet gel-like consistency, and it sinks into the skin with ease, leaving a smooth and hydrated finish behind.
Just like the Cosnori Panthenol Barrier Cream, it will hydrate the skin without clogging the pores, and it’s also quite similar in terms of ingredients.
Besides its main active ingredient, the Panthenol Moist Cream also contains great emollients such as beeswax and fatty alcohols that will further soften the skin and create a protective barrier against environmental aggressors.
I’m usually not incredibly fond of fatty alcohols, just because I know they are a trigger for my skin since I live in a country with very hot and humid weather; however, if you can tolerate them without any issues or live in colder and dryer areas, then this is an excellent moisturizer for you.

Etude House – Soon Jung 5-Panthensoside Cica Balm
Best for sensitive, dry, damaged, and reactive skin.
Formulated with 92% naturally-derived ingredients, this thick, creamy balm is an excellent choice for those with sensitive, dry, and reactive skin.
It contains a high concentration of panthenol, as well as other skin-soothing and healing ingredients such as allantoin, Madecassoside, and Madecassic acid.
However, due to its thick consistency and the addition of emollients such as fatty alcohols and stearic acid, I wouldn’t recommend it to those with oily and acne-prone skin, as it could potentially clog the pores and cause breakouts.
That said, if you are currently undergoing any type of skin treatment that’s leaving your skin dry, red, and irritated, like Accutane or tretinoin, then this is an excellent choice for you, even if your skin is usually acne-prone.

NEEDLY – Panthenol Water Gel Cream
Best for normal, combo, oily, and acne-prone skin.
The NEEDLY Panthenol Water Gel Cream is not that well known in the US, but it’s a quite popular Korean skincare product.
It’s an incredibly lightweight, water-based gel cream that contains panthenol, as well as other skin-soothing ingredients like green tea and rosemary extracts, Centella Asiatica, and purslane extract, which is an anti-inflammatory ingredient with the ability to protect the skin cells from environmental damage.
Lastly, the Panthenol Water Gel Cream also contains niacinamide, a barrier-strengthening antioxidant that helps relieve redness caused by acne and inflammation, alongside adenosine, which is a cell-communicating ingredient that helps boost the effects of other ingredients in skincare products as well as moisturize, soften, and repair the skin.

Mizon – Snail Recovery Gel Cream
Best for normal, combo, oily, and acne-prone skin.
Lightweight, airy, and incredibly refreshing, the Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream is perfect for those with normal, combo, oily, and even acne-prone skin.
Formulated with 74% snail secretion filtrate known for its skin-regenerating, repair, and anti-aging properties, this gel cream aims to hydrate, soften, and smoothen the skin.
It also contains a decent amount of soothing panthenol, as well as other calming and redness-relieving ingredients like Centella Asiatica, green tea extract, and purslane extract.
Lastly, the Snail Recovery Gel Cream can also help reverse signs of premature aging, such as fine lines due to containing copper peptides, which are small fragments of proteins that can stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.

Avene – Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream
Best for sensitive, dry, damaged, and mature skin.
Loved by skincare influencers and derms alike, the Avene Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream is one of the most popular skin-soothing and repairing products on the market.
Clinically proven to accelerate the skin’s recovery process by 2X1, the Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream is a thick, moisturizing balm that creates an occlusive barrier on the skin to help lock in hydration and speed up the healing process.
It contains a high concentration of barrier-protecting fatty alcohols alongside wound-healing zinc oxide and hydrating glycerin.
However, due to its content of hydrogenated vegetable oil and mineral oil, the Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream might not be the best product for those with oily and acne-prone skin.
And while mineral oil isn’t necessarily a comedogenic ingredient, especially when formulated properly by a high-standard company like Avene, it can nonetheless aggravate pre-existing acne.

Kate Somerville – DeliKate Recovery Cream
Best for ultra-sensitive, reactive, and damaged skin.
The DeliKate Recovery Cream is a thick, creamy, and moisturizing balm that’s formulated with a unique blend of ingredients to help calm, repair, and restore the skin.
Some of its key ingredients include a complex of peptides and ceramides to help strengthen the skin barrier and reduce the appearance of redness and irritation, as well as glycerin, cucumber, rice bran, and rosemary extracts to soothe and hydrate the skin.
The DeliKate Recovery Cream is also formulated with fatty alcohols, sterols, and seed oils that help soften the skin and create an occlusive barrier to help prevent trans-epidermal water loss.
However, due to the heavy emollients and occlusive ingredients, this product is definitely not the best for those with oily and acne-prone skin.
